Some of you will remember seeing Rachel and Steve’s gorgeous save-the-dates from an earlier post.  I recently received the corresponding invitation in the mail.  Take a look:

These invitations were designed by Austin Petito from Mama’s Sauce Print Shoppe in Winter Park, Florida.  Rachel and Steve were inspired to do a two birds theme after seeing a Chinese wedding invitation on the web with two quirky, but colorful birds.  They found further inspiration in a colorful silk Batik scarf that they picked up while visiting Rachel’s family in Malaysia last August.  “We weren’t sure what we wanted the invitations to look like, but we knew we wanted lots of rich colors including red.  When used in weddings, red is a symbol of good luck and happiness in the Chinese culture.  Austin came up with this amazing design that Steve and I absolutely love!” says Rachel.

This colorful theme will be carried throughout the wedding on the programs and table numbers.  In preparation for Edison & Ford Holiday Nights, the Estates will also have colorful lights strung from the trees in the Royal Palm Alleé where Rachel and Steve will be saying their vows this November.

Last week I received a Save-the-Date postcard from Rachel and Steve who are getting married at the Estates on November 14th, 2009.  The card was so beautiful that I had to share it!

Rachel and Steve are from Fort Myers, but currently live in Orlando, FL.  They worked to design the postcard with graphic designer Austin Petito of Winter Park’s Mama’s Sauce Print Shoppe.  Their friend Nick Sambrato, also of Fort Myers, owns and operates Mama’s Sauce and is working with Austin on Rachel and Steve’s letterpress invitation, promising to “push the limits” with this piece.

Their save-the-date is a continuation of a design they are using for their invitations and throughout the wedding’s “two birds” theme.  “The picture of us was taken July 1st of 2008 on Lake Huron in Northern Michigan, minutes after Steve proposed on a family trip to their cabin.  It was a complete surprise that EVERYONE knew about but me!” says Rachel.

I can’t wait to see how beautiful this November wedding will be!  Happy planning, Rachel & Steve!
